It's hot and cooling off at and higher level of living is here. Get those lungs ready for the ridge.HIKE THE NEW TRAIL TO WHEELER PEAK, a great way to train. Get on those mountain bikes, TSV has lots of high altitude trails to get you in shape for hiking the ridge and skiing the powder, endurance is paramont! Hiking with a pack, (be sure to have what you need if it storms), will also increase your endurance. For ballance nothing is better than to conqour those logs crossing icy fast running streams, rock hopping and manuvering in skree covered peakes will center you and create supurb ballance. Lunging up a trial will increase quad strengh for all you free heelers and downward trail diagonal hops will add to your quickened reaction time. Run it if you can for more endurance. Be safe, be prepared for changing weather conditions, bring sunscreen, hydration and munchies and go have fun getting in shape and ready to slide! ![]() Happy Thanksgiving means time to slide!!! Start training!!!!! Agility and all exercises that challenge your balance, trail running hopping over logs and bounding laterally, spurts of starts and stops. Get a partner and mirror each other by challenging your buddy with fast quick movements in all directions. Throw a weighted ball back and forth and balance one 1 foot. Add lots of side way movements and hop back and forth staying aligned over the center. Do squats on a bosu ball, 1 legged and two legged. Weight training in the Gym for strength, spinning and stair master are good for both strength and endurance. DON'T FOR GET THOSE CRUNCHES EITHER, FOR YOUR CORE!!! Best tip is get out side and play find altitude! ![]() ![]() Fall 07 First snow is flying now is the time to check your equipment for the season boots feeling like slippers? no way You should seek the advise of a qualified boot fitter. Your boots should be modern and snug, fit to incorporate all those fine tuning movements. Less is more! That means if the boot is too big you can not be an efficient skier! Be sure to have all you equipment checked too. Bindings should be reset again to your ability. A well tuned pair of skis is a great way to start on all that man made snow. Don't for get to train!! Core, agility and balance are just as important as strength training. Keep it simple! With the "new shaped" skies it is so easy to turn. You no longer need to use your whole body! Try this; on a gentle slope do a straight run down the hill. Gently tip both skies to the right. ( Be patient!) Let both skies seek the fall line, than gently tip both skies to the left. You will see how easy it is to turn and better yet you will not get as tired! Don't rush it! relax be sure to look where you are going and relax. look and move toward the new turn, tip the skies to drift and float into the fall line. Gently direct BOTH legs and skis in the new direction. stay centered and have fun! Be sure to check your equipment fat is in for those powder days! When skiing in the bumps be sure to first look where you want to go. than aim your new inside thigh and knee. lead the release with the same leg and foot. remember early pole plant. Keep pressure on the cuff of your boot! Remember the driving starts at the feet an ankles, not the head! AND THOSE POWDER DAYS! look first to where you want to go. aim with your belly too! keep your core strength (tummy strong) release your skies to the new direction. wait until the skies find the fall line and turn out by tipping the skies until they almost stop. Spring crud. It can be great fun! Keep a strong core, stay centered with pressure on the cuff of the boots. Be sure to keep the new inside leg controlled through the turn. Don't twist the upper body or you be stuck for sure!
